It further recognizes that the quality and reputation of the breed rests squarely in the hands of its breeders.<\/p>\n<p>The club was founded in the early 1960&#8217;s by a group of dedicated Westie breeders. The club maintains a membership of about 100 people. Club meetings are generally held the second Friday of even numbered months and the location can vary. Details about the next club meeting can be <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ohiowestie.com\/new\/news\/\">found here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Mission<\/h2>\n<div>\n<div>The West Highland White Terrier Club of Northern Ohio recognizes its responsibility to preserve and protect the West Highland White Terrier through educating the community on the breed and rescuing Westie dogs in need.<\/div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<h2>Club Overview<\/h2>\n<p>We are an all-volunteer organization. Our foster families take rescued Westies into their homes throughout Ohio, providing the care needed until the rescue is adopted. All of our rescues are fully vetted, spayed\/neutered and heartworm checked before adoption, and behavioral characteristics are carefully evaluated to ensure the right placement. \u00a0We also conduct bi-monthly meetings for club members to provide education and recreation realted to the Westie breed.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<h2>Description<\/h2>\n<p>The WHWTCNO serves as the official AKC sanctioned Westie breed club for Northern Ohio. \u00a0We preserve the Westie breed through education, club meetings, and dog shows. We protect the breed by rescuing endangered Westies and working to shut down &#8220;puppy mills&#8221;.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<h2>General Information<\/h2>\n<p>The WHWTCNO primarily serves northern Ohio, however we have members across several states. \u00a0We operate with a network of dedicated volunteers, breeders and foster homes throughout the region.<\/p>\n<h2>Membership<\/h2>\n<p>The West Highland White Terrier Club of Northern Ohio is always looking for new members dedicated to the preservation and protection of the breed.
