Rudy

The two rescues that are most outstanding in my mind from the past couple months are Rudy and Starbucks.  There were even more. Think of that when you see how safe and happy your own dogs are tonight.  There have actually been Westies abandoned in dog pounds in our area in the past few months.  Those we knew about we helped by referring people in our files.

Rudy was only four months old when his family realized he was not going to work out along with two young children.  Since they did not have time for him he was living pretty much full time in an ex pen in the garage.  When I arrived to take him home one of the children was carrying him around by the neck. He had a nice crate, toys, the aforementioned ex pen, lots of food and treats, and just about every product that Petsmart sells, but not the love and attention a Westie puppy needs.   As I was leaving, the mother of the family warned me he was not a good traveler and to expect whines and worse.  That little guy settled right down for a nap without a peep.  He knew he was going to a better place.  Rudy has been adopted by a couple with grown children whose teen aged Westie had passed away the previous week.
